Allen Brown is a Richland County native, a Gulf War U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a proven
financial professional with nearly three decades of experience in finance and
accounting.
A graduate of C.A. Johnson High School, Allen answered the call to serve by joining the United
States Marine Corps, where he served 11 years. That
experience shaped his leadership, discipline, and unwavering commitment to integrity — values
he carries into public service today.
After returning home, Allen earned his degree in Accounting from the University of South
Carolina and built a 28+ year career of financial experience, with a strong focus on government
operations, fiscal responsibility, and taxpayer accountability.
For nearly 10 years, Allen has worked inside the Richland County Auditor’s Office, gaining
hands-on, operational experience with the very systems and responsibilities he is now seeking
to lead — including property tax administration, vehicle taxes, and homestead exemptions.
Unlike others, Allen doesn’t just understand county finances at a high level — he understands
how the Auditor’s Office actually works, day in and day out.
Allen holds the designation of Certified Government Financial Officer (CGFO), demonstrating
his advanced expertise in governmental accounting and finance.
